Zola to be unveiled as new West Ham manager
West Ham have are set to unveil Gianfranco Zola as their new manager today. The 42-year-old Italian will become the first foreigner to take charge at Upton Park after putting pen to paper on a three-year deal.
Despite having played for London rivals Chelsea, Zola is confident that he can win over the West Ham faithful with an exciting brand of attacking football. The diminutive Italian was chosen for the job after Slaven Bilic ruled himself out (although the Croatian may be regretting that decision after last night's result!).
While Zola undoubtedly understands the Premier League and has perfect English, he has never managed at club level. But after Curbishley's time in charge at Upton Park it's a gamble worth taking.
