Young could leave Villa if new signings aren't made

Ashley Young could leave Aston Villa if the Birmingham club fails to make a couple of big signings during the summer. Gareth Barry has been sold to Manchester City while club captain Martin Laursen was forced to retire through injury.

According to the Guardian, Tottenham have made Young their No1 transfer target but London rivals Chelsea are also reported to be interested in the 23-year-old. While Martin O'Neill would be reluctant to sell the club's prize asset Spurs are reported to be offering Jermaine Jenas and David Bentley as make weights in any possible deal.

The former Watford player is reported to be concerned about Villa's ability to be competitive next season following the loss of two of the club's most senior players. However, according to the Guardian, Young will not force the issue as he feels indebted to Villa manager Martin O'Neill who took on gamble on the winger back in 2007.
