Windass wonder strike sees Hull promoted to the Premiership

Dean Windass scored a stunning volley in the Football League Championship Play-Off Final at Wembley which will see Hull City play in the top flight for the first time in their 104-year history. The 39-year-old Windass latched onto Fraizer Campbell's pass to place an unstoppable shot past Adriano Basso in the Bristol City goal.

The strike was worth promotion to the Premiership and £60m for the Yorkshire club. Hull manager Phil Brown will have to spend every penny of that money if his team are to have any chance of staying up for more than a season, only seven teams out of twenty promoted via the play-offs have managed to remain in the top flight.

Doncaster Rovers beat Leeds 1-0 in the Football League One Play-Off Final to win promotion to the Championship. It's a remarkable achievement for a club that were playing non-league football in 2001 while Leeds were taking on Valencia in the Champions League semi-final. James Hayter was the hero on the day scoring from a Brian Stock corner, consigning Gary McAllister's Leeds to another year in League One.
