Looking for Wimbledon tennis tickets?

There are never enough Wimbledon tennis tickets to satisfy demand as this is one of the most popular sporting fixtures of the year.

The Wimbledon Championships are held every year at the end of June and start of July. The first championship took place in 1877 and nowadays many consider the Wimbledon Championships to be the premier Grand Slam tournament of the tennis year.

There are a number of ways to get tickets for Wimbledon.

One such way is entering the free ballot system. This gets you in with the best chance of securing a seat on the show courts at either the semi finals or the finals. August 2nd 2010 is the start date for the ballot and for the cost of a few stamps one has a very good chance of securing a ticket.

All you have to do to apply for tickets in the ballot system is send a self addressed stamped envelope to AELTC, PO Box 98, London SW19 5AE by 15th December 2010. You will learn around the middle of February whether you have been successful or not and sometimes you can get the option to buy tickets up to early June.

The rules for the ballot state only one entry per household but there are no names on the tickets so the more households you know the better chance you have of getting Wimbledon tennis tickets.

Queuing for Wimbledon tennis tickets is very popular also but beware - the queues are very long. People often turn up a day before and camp outside in the hope of getting a ticket
