Who will replace Ronaldo at Old Trafford?
With Cristiano Ronaldo set to join Real Madrid for a world record fee of £80m, Manchester United are on the lookout for someone to fill the Portugal captain's shoes. Despite his temper tantrums and histrionics, C-Ron bagged 86 goals in 196 appearances, a phenomenal record for a winger.
Favourite to fill the legendary Number 7 jersey worn by amongst others Cantona, Beckham and Ronaldo is Franck Ribery. United have long admired the French playmaker, but Ribery has said in the past that he is not interested in moving to the Premier League and Real Madrid are reported to be sniffing around the Bayern Munich player.
Karim Benzema is another contender who could replace C-Ron. The Lyon striker looked set to move to Old Trafford a couple of years ago for £15m, but the Ligue 1 club are now reported to be asking for £40m.
However, the most likely candidate to line out on the wing next year for the Red Devils is Wigan's Antonio Valencia. The Ecuadorian international would cost around £15m and many believe that the 23-year-old could become a world class player under the tutelage of Sir Alex Ferguson.
But before any new faces can be brought to Old Trafford, Manchester United need to make clear how much of the £80m will be used to buy new players and how much will go towards paying off part of the club's £700m debt.
