West Brom stun Arsenal

West Bromwich Albion pulled off the Premier League’s shock result of the day with a 3-2 win over Arsenal at the Emirates this afternoon.

The Gunners produced a sloppy and lacklustre display allowing the Baggies to race away to a 3-0 lead before mounting a late comeback.

Chris Brunt missed a first half penalty for West Brom after Manuel Almunia had clattered into Peter Odemwingie in the box, but the Nigerian striker put the visitors ahead on 50 minutes.

Jerome Thomas beat Bacary Sagna too easily before his low cross was turned home by Odemwingie. West Brom’s second goal was a comedy of errors from Arsenal.

Gonzalo Jara and Chris Brunt played a neat one-two before the Chilean striker raced unopposed into the Arsenal box and saw his low shot fumbled into the net by Almunia.

Thomas scored West Brom’s third after a great run from Brunt and the goal seemed to finally kick the Gunners into gear. Samir Nasri got the home side’s first with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The Frenchman scored a second just before the final whistle when he beat the West Brom offside trap but it was too little too late.
