Wenger still hopeful of signing Arshavin
Arsene Wenger is still hopeful that he can capture the signature of Russian striker Andrei Arshavin before the end of the transfer window despite having a £10m bid for the play maker rejected by Zenit St Petersburg.
Arshavin's agent Denis Lachter told Goal.com that reports of his client's imminent move to the Premier League were "bullsh*t", but Wenger is said to be desperate to sign the 27-year-old to give him more midfield options.
"I am very hopeful. There are only days left because the transfer window closes on February 2 and we have crossed halfway," Wenger told reporters. "We want to improve and know what we want to do. We are in negotiations, but we want to respect our principles."
