Wenger rues his misfiring Gunners

Arsene Wenger was yet again ruing his Arsenal team’s prolificacy in front of goal yesterday, after they lost 2-0 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in an early-season title clash.

The Gunners put their London rivals through the mill at points during yesterday’s clash, keeping possession well like Arsenal usually do (even without star players Cesc Fabregas and Theo Walcott) and even creating some golden opportunities to score. However, despite all their endeavour, it just wasn’t enough to beat Chelsea, who always looked dangerous on the break, and who were more clinical in front of goal. Wenger was quick to point out his side’s key deficiency.

‘We have to be more clinical to win championships,’ said Wenger. ‘We can't lose a game like that.

‘Their strikers were more clinical than ours and that made the difference. We had the chances but we need to score. I feel sorry for my team because they had an outstanding attitude.

‘I feel sorry they were not rewarded but when you don't take your chances you don't win big games. We dominated the game, surprisingly easily, but we go home with zero points. The players on the pitch had enough quality to win this game.’
