Wenger: Arshavin deal still hangs in the balance
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted for the first time that the Gunners are in talks to bring Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin to the Emirates. But the Frenchman told reporters that the do to protracted negotiations the deal is still hanging in the balance.
'There is nothing new on Arshavin, I have been concentrating on the game and not taking calls,' Wenger told reporters. 'But the deal is maybe 90% completed. However, the final 10% of any deal can be the most difficult. Maybe in the next two days. In this kind of job it can be difficult at this stage because people can change their minds completely.'
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their injury hit squad as the battle for Champions League places hots up. Robin van Persie scored an injury-time equaliser last night against Everton, but Arsenal are still struggling to transform their abundance of raw footballing talent into points.
