'We need a miracle'

France coach Raymond Domenech has admitted that his side need a miracle to stay in the World Cup, after their 2-0 loss to Mexico last night. The French were as toothless as they have been throughout Domenech’s reign, not having a single shot on target throughout the 90 minutes of play, and were comfortably outplayed by the Mexicans.

Most galling for followers of the French national team will be the gutless way they downed tools in the second half, barely trying to claw anything out of the game, while the splits in the camp have clearly compromised the way the team functions.

‘We need a miracle now,’ said Domenech. ‘When we are forced to rely on others, there's nothing to say. I don't have the words, it's a real disappointment for all the people who believed in us.

‘If we had the answers then we could have done something about it. We had good intentions and desire. I feel just like all of the fans, all the French people. It's more than just a disappointment. At the moment, I don't know what I will say to the players.’
