'We must improve'

Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that Chelsea will need to improve if they want to progress any further in the Champions League, after going through to the competition’s quarter finals.

The Blues had countless chances to put Copenhagen out of reach, but missed them all; and with all of their strike power misfiring, the Danes always had a chance to get back in the tie. They almost did so when a free-kick slammed off the post in the first half, but apart from that Chelsea dominated, and went through without any bother. However with Real Madrid, Inter and Barca in the next round, not to mention a potential London derby with Tottenham, Ancelotti knows that his side will need to step it up a notch.

‘Obviously we have to improve,’ said Ancelotti. ‘We had so many chances to score – we didn't have to tonight but we will have to in the future. So we need to be more precise in front of goal, but these are little details. We have a squad that's strong enough to win it.All the players are fit, the team is strong enough. If we play at 100%, we have a possibility to get to the final stages of the Champions League.

‘The draw will decide which team we have to play. Barcelona are the most dangerous team in the competition but, if we have to play against them, we will play.’
