Wales enjoyed a famous 21-18 win over Australia at Cardiff becoming the only Northern Hemisphere side to take a Tri-Nations scalp in the Autumn internationals. The 6 Nations Champions produced an epic display of running rugby and rock solid defending to beat the Wallabies.
Full-back Lee Byrne and winger Shane Williams were the stand out players on the day for Wales They scored a try apiece and caused havoc in the Australian defence every time they got their hands on the ball.
Australia lost skipper Sterling Mortlock in the first five minutes and struggled to contain Wales' free-flowing game. The Wallabies did give themselves a lifeline when winger Digby Ioane scored just before the end, but it was too little too late.
