Wales beat Scotland 26-13 at Murrayfield

Wales opened their defence of the 6 Nations title with a 26-13 victory over Scotland at Murrayfield this afternoon. Warren Gatland's team dominated the match against a poor Scottish side which struggled to make inroads into a watertight Welsh defence.

Tom Shanklin, Alun-Wyn Jones, Leigh Halfpenny and Shane Williams all crossed the line for Wales as the Grand Slam champions showcased their brand of running rugby. Not even Stephen Jones' profligacy with the boot could spoil the day for Wales as Scotland failed to match their opponents in all facets of the game.

Max Evans did score a consolation try for Scotland after coming off the bench, but Wales never really had to get out of second gear to seal the win. England should provide a tougher test next week in Cardiff, but on the evidence of the first weekend of games, Ireland and Wales look like the teams to beat in this year's 6 Nations.
