Villa set to snub Chelsea and remain in La Liga
Spanish striker David Villa looks set to snub a £22m move to Chelsea and remain in La Liga. The Daily Mail reports that the Valencia hit man is weighing up offers from Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Villa has been one of the stars of Euro 2008 scoring a hat-trick against Russia and bagging the winner against Sweden to book his side a place in the quarter-finals. Roman Abramovich is reported to be ready to pay out over £65m to bring Villa and his Spanish striking partner Fernanado Torres to Stamford Bridge.
Torres had a great first season at Liverpool and has been in electric form so far in Euro 2008, forming a lethal partnership with Villa up front for Spain. But Abramovich is unlikely to see either Torres or Villa at Chelsea with the Valencia player making it clear that he wants to remain in his homeland, while Liverpool will reject any bid for El Niño.
