Former England captain Michael Vaughan has been left out of the Test squad which will travel to the West Indies. Vaughan was expected to return with the selectors planning ahead for the Ashes' series next year, but his place has gone to Ian Bell.
Selector Geoff Miller told reporters why Vaughan had been left out of the tour party to the Caribbean: "Michael Vaughan has not yet had an opportunity to prove his form in order to be considered for selection for the Test side."
Vaughan was handed an England contract despite stepping down as skipper earlier this year and now looks set to make his England comeback next summer in Australia. Speaking of the erstwhile captain's involment in the Ashes tour Miller said: "He does, however, remain very much in our thoughts as we continue to plan for the Ashes Test series against Australia later this summer."
