Up for Sale

It seems that very few people have any sympathy with Newcastle United's current plight. Mike Ashley officially put the club up for sale, asking for emails offers from prospective buyers, which of course meant the club was swamped with joke bids. That's just asking for it, isn't it?

'The board of Newcastle United can today confirm that the club is for sale at the price of £100million,' said the club website this morning. 'Interested parties should contact Newcastle United at admin@nufc.co.uk (or Keith Harris at Seymour Pierce) for further details. The club will not be making any further comment at the present time.'

Subsequent offers included a bid for 10p, and one wag offered a Mars Bar. Well, it'll be the only Mars Bar that ever loses Ashley a few pounds, eh? EH?. Meanwhile someone else bumped the price up to £10, on the proviso that he appoint himself team manager, 'as I am currently in a management role in the Peterlee Sunday League.' No, it's not funny. Not at all.
