United table bid of €70m for Ribery

Manchester United have tabled a world record bid of €70million for Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery according to the Guardian.

The deal would break the previous transfer record of €66million for Zinedine Zidane back in 2001, but any deal to bring Ribery to Old Trafford will depend on Cristiano Ronaldo joining Real Madrid in the summer.

While Bayern will be reluctant to let the 26-year-old former Marseille player leave, Ribery has made it clear that he would leave the club if they failed to qualify for the Champions League next season. The German giant's are reported to be lining up Werder Bremen's Diego as a possible replacement.
