United go five points clear with 3-0 win over Fulham
Manchester United moved five points clear at the top of the Premier League table tonight after coasting to a 3-0 win over Fulham at Old Trafford. Veteran midfielder Paul Scholes put United ahead on 12 minutes with a long range effort reminiscent of his famous goal against Bradford.
Sir Alex Ferguson's side went two up on the half hour when Dimitar Berbatov latched onto a through ball from John O'Shea to fire past Mark Schwarzer in the Fulham goal, while Wayne Rooney came off the bench to score United's third on 63 minutes and wrap up the three points.
The Cottagers struggled to breakdown the Red Devils' watertight defence with the league leaders justifying Arsene Wenger's claim that they are 'untouchable'. United head to Milan next week to take on Jose Mourinho's Inter which should be a tougher assignment than the challenges they've faced over the past few months in the Premier League.
