Ukraine 1 – 0 England

Literally 10s of people huddled round their laptops to watch England lose their first competitive match under manager Fabio Capello on Saturday. The World Cup qualifier, which was only available to watch via streaming on computers, saw England lose 1-0 to Ukraine in a game littered with mistakes. Firstly, England keeper Robert Green was sent off for bringing down Artem Milevskiy in the penalty box following a mistake from Rio Ferdinand, leading to former Chelsea light-weight Andre Shevchenko missing a penalty which sent sub-goalie David James the wrong way. Ashley Cole later gave the ball away all too easily on the edge of the England box leading to the only goal on the 29th minute from Ukraine striker Nazarenko.

Having already secured their place in the World Cup thanks to the 5-1 demolition of Croatia last month, this loss may prove to be a valuable lesson for Capello and his pack of English lions. The final World Cup qualifier against Belarus is at Wembley on Wednesday, and is live on terrestrial telly. Oooh the novelty.
