Transfer Deadline Day closes with a whimper
The summer transfer deadline day has been notoriously full of twists and turns as big money-burning clubs have their last chance till mid-season to purchase/steal [delete where applicable] players from other clubs, but yesterday’s (2 Sept) will go down in footballing history as being the dullest since a caveman first kicked a pigs bladder.
With Real Madrid buying anything with two abled-legs over the summer, and new money big boys Manchester City chipping in with their 150 million pennies-worth maybe it was always going to be a day for pessimists.
The big ‘surprise’ signing was Richard Dunne from Man City to Aston Villa, WOOOO...
Other top bore signings were...
Peter Lovenkrands to Newcastle, David Nugent to Burnley, Johnny Heitinga to Everton, and Niko Kranjcar to Spurs.
Sadly the rumours that Zinedine Zidane was spotted showing his family around Highbury tube station weren’t true, maybe in January when the next window opens.
