Torres a doubt for Real Madrid showdown
Liverpool go into tonight's Champions League second leg tie with Real Madrid at Anfield with major doubts over the fitness of star striker Fernando Torres. Reds boss Rafa Benitez insists that the Spanish hit-man will take some part in the crucial match, despite having played no football since he injured his ankle in the return fixture two weeks ago.
Winger Albert Riera is suspended for the game while inform midfielder Yossi Benayoun is out for a fortnight with a hamstring injury. But Benitez is still hoping that Torres can make at least make a cameo appearance.
"We are doing special sessions with specific work with some players. Hopefully he can train today and then we will see. It depends on his reaction after the session and then again tomorrow. I think he can be part of the squad and maybe he can play some minutes, but I can't guarantee how much," Benitez told reporters.
With both Liverpool and Real's dreams of domestic glory all but down the toilet at this stage of the season, tonight's game could see one of the two clubs finish trophy less this season.
