'This is normality'

Real Madrid made it to the quarter finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2004 last night, sweeping aside Lyon in comprehensive style, 3-0 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate.

You’d think that the club and José Mourinho would be shouting from the rooftops, but instead the Portuguese is playing it down, saying that they should be in the quarter finals every year, instead of being happy to make it there. Some people might call that arrogance, but not us – we think he’s dreamy.

‘One day we had to go through and it seems normal for us to advance,’ said Mourinho. ‘We were better than our rival and we played better. I'm relaxed rather than euphoric because for me this is normal. Madrid is too big a club not to be there.

‘I would prefer to avoid Inter and Chelsea (in the quarter-finals) because emotionally it's difficult to play against your people, your friends. But if it has to be it will be.’
