The Lions hammer the Golden Lions 74-10

The British and Irish Lions answered their critics this evening with an emphatic 74-10 win over the Golden Lions in Johannesburg scoring a mammoth ten tries.

Defence coach Shaun Edwards had called on the Lions to put down a marker for the rest of the tour following last Saturday's lacklustre victory over the Royal XV and tonight's team didn't disappoint. Wales centre Jamie Roberts all but cemented a test place, forming an excellent partnership with Brian O'Driscoll and bagging two tries to boot.

Wingers Tommy Bowe and Ugo Monye also put in good shifts scoring two tries each. But most of the starting XV put their hands up for test selection with Tom Croft, Jamie Heaslip and Alun Wyn Jones all impressing upfront.

The happiest member of the touring party, however, is bound to be defensive coach Edwards after the Lions restricted their opponents to just one try and didn't give an inch all game with a brilliant example of blitz defence.
