The Chaaaaampiiiooooooonsssss?

Arsene Wenger has suggested that he’s expecting his Arsenal team to put in a serious challenge for the Champions League this year, after they put Portuguese side Braga to the sword 6-0 last night.

Arsenal put on the sort of swashbuckling display that makes the neutral football fan dribble with delight at their slick passing and inability to tackle, with Cesc Fabregas bossing things, and Wenger thinks his team have what it takes to trouble the winner’s podium come May. A hasty judgement after one group game, if you ask us.

‘We want to maintain a high quality in every game we play and we think we can do better. We believe when we play like that it will be very hard to stop us. What is important is that we keep our humility and our concentration and then we will have a chance of success.

‘I believe people who like football will have enjoyed the game because we played exceptionally well. The key now is to balance the competitions that means we will rotate from game to game. We play many away games after the Champions League so it's important we deal with that, but the team is hungry and ambitious so I think it is possible.’
