The £140million match

Newcastle's last game of the season could do more than seal their relegation fate it seems. If they do go down they could end up doing owner Mike Ashley out of a £140million escape from the club.

A consortium headed up by businessmen from The United States (including two NBA owners) and unspecified Middle Eastern countries is set to step in and take the club off Ashley's hands, reports the Guardian, but despite the fact that if the club were to go down the valuation of the club would drop considerably, the deal is almost certain to disappear unless Newcastle can escape the drop.

All the more reason for Geordies to pray that they get a result and that Man United don't just give up the ghost at Hull at the weekend, eh?
