He’ll forever blow a bubbly smile in the hearts of West Ham fans, for Carlos Tevez single-handedly kept the East Enders in the Premier League at the end of the 2006-7 season. Yet the saga of his transfer to Manchester United is leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of the Boelyn Ground Gang.
We can’t say too much about the shenanigans going on between the club’s board and the player’s “owner” Kia Joorabchian. Suffice to say, the way the Iranian businessman is described as the owner of another human being tangs with a Dickensian menace. It’s an ugly descriptor and one that surely should be discarded, or at least qualified every time it’s used.
Carlos – you’re a star. Those around you should relish your genius and not simply see you as a meal ticket. Shame on you all.
