Tevez returns to training at Manchester City

Carlos Tevez trained with Manchester City this morning but rumour has it that he will be stripped of the captaincy after handing in a transfer request on Monday.

City have rejected the demand and look set to play hardball with the Argentina international who has claimed that his relationship with a number of executives at the club is beyond repair.

Tevez was suspended for City’s 3-1 win over West Ham on Saturday and Roberto Mancini chose to give the player the weekend off. Instead of flying to see his family in Buenos Aires, however, the home-sick Tevez is reported to have visited Tenerife.

Mancini and Tevez are set to hold talks about the striker’s future on Friday, but City have made it clear that the 26-year-old is not for sale and will have to pay compensation for breach of contract if he refuses to play or decides to quit the club.

The Argentina striker has three and half years left on his current contract which sees him earn a reported £230,000 per week plus win and goal bonuses.
