Work on that backhand with Edinburgh tennis lessons

Have you ever watched the early rounds of Wimbledon and thought that you could do as well as most of those hapless British players? Maybe you, or your offspring, are just a couple of tennis lessons away from breaking into the British top 10.

In Edinburgh at the Craiglockhart Tennis Centre (www.edinburghleisure.co.uk) there is a variety of coaching sessions to suit all ages and all levels of skill and experience.

The Junior Programme at Craiglockhart is held in the highest regard by the Lawn Tennis Association (www.lta.org.uk) Over 700 children make use of the programme every week, with players ranging in age from 3 to 18 developing skills in groups with other children of similar age and ability. The programme starts from basics and progresses up to Regional and National standards.

For adults, weekly coaching sessions can be taken on a casual pay and play basis but courts can also be booked for coaching sessions up to 7 days in advance.

Beginners will find the Satellite sessions ideal, as they emphasise the basic skills needed to play tennis. The next step up involves the Challenger sessions to develop skills to matchplay level.

Adult Practice sessions involve honing those skills with drills and a certain amount of match play, before you are ready for the more competitive Social Match Play sessions. This is where you get to whistle those aces past some unfortunate fellow student on the other side of the net. By now you might feel you are only a few more  lessons away from that Wimbledon wild card.

Tennis lessons at Craiglockhart start at £5 pay and play for beginner's sessions, then £6.80 for the more advanced courses. Discounted rates are available for leisure-card holders. For details of junior courses and costs email info.ctc@edinburghleisure.co.uk.
