Taylor dismisses rumours of Ronaldo bust-up
Newcastle United's Steven Taylor has dismissed rumours of a half-time altercation with Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo during his side's 2-1 loss to the Premier League leaders last night.
"There was no bust-up with Ronaldo," Taylor told reporters today. "I shook hands with him at the end of the game." According to reports in a number of tabloids today Ronaldo confronted Taylor in the tunnel following a tackle at the end of the first-half.
The Portugal winger is alleged to have called Taylor "a rubbish footballer", with the Newcastle defender replying: "At least I'm not ugly." Referee Steve Bennett didn't mention the incident in his post match report, so it looks as if the matter will go no further.
