Take a dip in a swimming pool in Nottingham

With the Olympics action in the Aquatic Centre bound to inspire swimmers across the country to start working on their strokes, we looked at the swimming pool choice in Nottingham.

You can check all the public facilities at the Nottingham Council website at nottinghamcity.gov.uk. They list the 8 municipal pools and offer contact details and opening hours.

The Beechdale Swimming Centre in Bilborough offers a variety of open swimming sessions, swimming classes and over-50s sessions. The facilities include the main pool. middle pool, small pool and a dive tank. There are Aqua Fit courses in the pool and Deep Water Aerobics. The schedules change for school term time and holidays, so check the website for updates.

The Clifton Leisure Centre offers a broad variety of swimming sessions, including adults only, aqua aerobics, general swimming sessions, lessons for beginners or intermediate swimmers, disabled swimming, and sessions for over-50s.

The John Carroll Leisure Centre offers its own schedule of swimming sessions, which include adults only evenings, 50 plus swimming sessions, lane swimming, women's only sessions and general swimming.

The Lenton Centre (thelentoncentre.org.uk) is a community owned and managed centre in the inner city district of Lenton. Their swimming pool in Nottingham is 60 feet x 24 feet, with the depth going from 3 feet to 6 feet. It is mainly used as a teaching pool for children, but is also open to adults and swimming clubs. Swim sessions cost £3.60 for adults, £2.40 for OAPS, or £21 for a month.
