Everything you need to know about swimming lessons in your area

Swimming is one of the most popular sports among young people and adults alike. It is extremely good for the mind and body and burns lots of calories whilst building muscular strength. Every child should be brought to swimming lessons as there is a chance that knowing how to swim could save your life one day.

When you register for swimming lessons, you will learn a whole range of different swimming strokes including the breaststroke, backstroke, butterfly and crawl. They are all different in their own way but most people tend to be best at the crawl (also known as the freestyle)

You won't need much equipment as all floats and other instruments are provided but you will need your swimming hat, pair of goggles and of course a towel!

A great company that operates in the London area is Swimming Nature. They have dozens of extremely talented instructors and have classes from beginners to advanced for kids and adults. They also have a number of classes in Edinburgh. Visit them at swimmingnature.com for more information.

Most public swimming pools offer swimming lessons throughout the year. The best way to find out about a class near you is to just drop into your local swimming pool and ask if they have classes. They usually need to wait until 10 - 12 students have registered before the class begins and the duration is usually about 10 weeks before you can move into the advanced swimming lessons.

Prices vary depending on location, class, age and the type of swimming pool you will use but you should expect to pay about £10 for every one hour lesson. A 12 week full course usually costs in and around £100 and you should receive a certificate on completion of the course.
