Sven Goran Eriksson sacked as Mexico manager
Sven-Goran Eriksson has been sacked as manager of Mexico after just 10 months in charge. Last night's 3-1 defeat to Honduras was an embarrassment too far for the Mexican Football Federation who handed the luckless Swede his P45.
"This morning we talked to Mr Eriksson and announced his departure," a statement on the Mexican FA's website said. "It's a fact results have not been what we expected."
The former England boss took over from Hugo Sanchez last June but enjoyed mixed results while also being linked to a return to the Premier League as Portsmouth boss.
Mexico are currently lying fourth in the CONCACAF qualifying group and could now struggle to make it to South Africa next summer.
Expect Sven to be linked with every vacancy in British football from John o' Groats to Land's End.
