Suarez debut cheers Liverpool

Liverpool beat Stoke City 2-0 at Anfield last night, which will come as something of a fillip for Reds fans crushed/enraged by the transfer of Fernando Torres to Chelsea. The best news of all from the win though, will undoubtedly be new signing Luis Suarez scoring on his debut.

The Uruguayan scored a somewhat scrappy goal only 16 minutes after being brought as a substitute, with Liverpool already leading 1-0 from a Raul Meireles strike, and put in a bright display, suggesting that he could cause some damage if he links up well with Andy Carroll. Kenny Daglish was certainly impressed.

‘He had not even had the opportunity to train with us because of administrative stuff which had to be sorted out,’ said the Liverpool boss after the game. ‘When he starts training with the lads I think we might see an improvement.

‘He has a big smile on his face every day. He's a happy and a good guy. It is a great start to score on your debut. He worked hard and him and Dirk Kuyt linked up well a couple of times.’
