Stoke City 1 Manchester City 1

Manchester City dropped points again in their bid to challenge for the Premier League title. Roberto Mancini’s side drew 1-1 with Stoke City at the Brittannia Stadium yesterday afternoon.

Stoke battered City in the first half with Ricardo Fuller, Matthew Etherington and Jermaine Pennant all wasting decent opportunities to score.

Mancini’s team looked uncomfortable in the icy conditions and failed to register a single effort on goal until the 35th minute. However, they looked set to steal all three points late on.

Micah Richards underlined why he was considered one of English football’s most promising talents a few years ago with a beautiful turn and finish to put City 1-0 up on 80 minutes.

Stoke threw the proverbial kitchen sink at Mancini's team for the last ten minutes, but it was a moment of magic from substitute Tuncay which created the injury-time equaliser.

The Turkey international produced a deft backheel to free Etherington on the left and the winger drilled his shot past Joe Hart in the City goal.

Mancini claimed afterwards that his team deserved to win, however, he can have no complaints about sharing the points with Stoke who will feel that they should have won the game.
