Spurs make £30m bid for Crouch, Defoe and Johnson

Portsmouth have rejected a £30m triple bid from Spurs for Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe and Glen Johnson according to a report in The Guardian. The south coast club may have to unload the three England internationals to balance the books, but they will want more money before they let the trio leave.

Spurs lost 2-0 to bottom club West Brom on Sunday and haven't won in their last four games as Harry Redknapp's honeymoon period appears to have come to an end. The attempted Portsmouth raid illustrates Tottenham's intent to battle relegation at all costs.

But it is clear that Spurs will have to break the bank if they have any chance of signing the trio of players that Redknapp brought to Fratton Park over the last 12 months. Big spenders Manchester City and Aston Villa are also reported to be interested in Crouch and Defoe and Pompey will sell to the highest bidder.
