Spurs linked with shock move for Joe Cole
Joe Cole could become the latest player to be reunited with Harry Redknapp. The Guardian reports that the Tottenham manager is hoping to tempt the Chelsea midfielder to White Hart Lane with the promise of first team football ahead of next summer's World Cup.
Cole has 12 months left on his current Chelsea contract but knows that competition will be fierce for places this season at Stamford Bridge where Frank Lampard, Yuri Zhirkov, Florent Malouda, Michael Essien and Michael Ballack will all be competing for a place in midfield.
With new Blues manager Carlo Ancelotti favouring a four-man diamond midfield Cole could struggle to hold down a regular place in the starting XI and Spurs are hoping that they can tempt the former West Ham player to move to North London.
Another factor which could influence Cole's decision to make the switch is the fact that he worked with Redknapp at Upton Park before joining Chelsea back in 2003.
