Spurs beat Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane
Spurs beat Liverpool 2-1 at White Hart Lane last night raising serious doubts about the Reds' title hopes this year. Sabastien Bassong was the hero on the day getting the all important second goal to cap an excellent debut for his new club.
The London side had gone close on a number of occasions through Robbie Keane but the Spurs' captain wasted two gilt edged opportunities to score against his former club before fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto hammered home an unstoppable shot from outside the box.
Steven Gerrard got Liverpool back on level terms from the penalty spot just after the break but it was Spurs who had the last word when Bassong powered home a brilliant header from a Modric free-kick to send the home crowd wild.
