Spurs beat Chelsea 1-0 at White Hart Lane yesterday to hand Guus Hiddink his first defeat as Blues manager. Luka Modric's goal was enough to trip up Chelsea's title hopes on a day that saw league leaders Manchester United drop three points at Fulham.
A win for the Blues would have left them just one point behind behind rivals United, but they produced a stuttering performance in which they were mainly reduced to long range efforts on Heurelho Gomes' goal.
Robbie Keane went close for Spurs in the first half but his volley was well saved by Peter Cech. But it was Crotia international Modric who produced the match winning moment finishing well from the edge of the area after a mazy run by Aaron Lennon. Chelsea went close late on through John Terry and Nicolas Anelka, but Gomes produced two great saves to secure the famous win.
