Spurs beat Burnley 5-0

Spurs ripped newly promoted Burnley a new one at White Hart Lane on Saturday with Ireland striker Robbie Keane bagging four goals in a 5-0 win.

Keane underlined again just why Harry Redknapp has been justified in leaving pairing the club captain alongside Jermain Defoe upfront consigning England international Peter Crouch to a place on the bench.

Spurs went ahead on 18-minutes when Keane converted a penalty after Burnley defender Andre Bikey's clumsy foul on Defoe inside the area. The home side went 2-0 ahead when a Jermaine Jenas shot deflected off Stephen Jordan and past the wrong footed Brian Jensen in the Burnley goal.

Owen Coyle's went close to scoring when veteran midfielder Robbie Blake's shot hit the post with a close range effort after Spurs' keeper Carlo Cudicini had spilled a Tyrone Mears' free-kick. But Keane scored three second half goals to put the result beyond any doubt.
