South Africa hammer England at Twickenham
England were hammered 42-6 by South Africa at Twickenham this afternoon five years to the day after Martin Johnson lifted the World Cup. The result and the performance will have been a wake up call for the former England skipper and his players.
The Springboks put an inexperienced England team to the sword, running in a total of five tries through Danie Rossouw, Ruan Pienaar, Adi Jacobs, Jaque Fourie and Bryan Habana. Pienaar gave a master-class at fly-half racking up a monster total of twenty points.
His opposite number, Danny Cipriani, had another anonymous game, again underlining that he is not mature enough in the international game to dominate a test match. The result was a record home defeat for England, but if they think that was bad they now have to regroup to face the All Blacks next Saturday. Be afraid, be very afraid.
