Sol Campbell walks out of Notts County

Sol Campbell has walked out of Notts County after just one game for the League Two club. The former England defender, who had agreed a £40,000-a-week deal, made the shock announcement to his team-mates in the wake of the club's 2-1 defeat to Morecambe at the weekend.

The Sun reports that Campbell asked Ian McParland, the Notts County manager, to be released from his contract. The 34-year-old arrived at the club as a free agent after being released by Portsmouth in the summer and was a major coup for Director of Football, Sven Goran Eriksson.

Campbell's departure comes in the wake of rumours that the FA are investigating the details of Munto Finance's recent takeover of Notts County and could also see the former England centre-back make a return to the Premier League. Well Spurs are having a defensive crisis and there's no history between the two partners.
