Sol Campbell to rejoin Arsenal

Sol Campbell is set to rejoin Arsenal after leaving the Emirates following a much publicized on field meltdown against West Ham back in 2006. The former England international will line out for Arsenal reserves tonight against the Hammers at Upton Park.

Arsenal released a statement on the deal via their website earlier today: 'Tonight's reserve team to face West Ham United at Upton Park features Sol Campbell, who plays on a Reserve League registration, with a view to a permanent move back to Arsenal Football Club.'

The 35-year-old central defender would provide much needed defensive cover for Thomas Vermaelen and William Gallas with Johan Djourou out for the season with Arsene Wenger appearing to have little faith in Mikaël Silvestre and Philippe Senderos.

Campbell spent five seasons at Arsenal before joining Portsmouth in 2006 but has been training with the Gunners at their Hertfordshire base since walking out on Notts County back in September.
