Simon Shaw handed two-week ban for dangerous play

British and Irish Lions second-row Simon Shaw has been banned for two weeks after being cited for dangerous play during yesterday's third and final Test against South Africa in Johannesburg.

The England forward received a yellow card for hitting South African scrum-half Fourie du Preez with his knee late in the first-half, but the incident was later referred to a disciplinary committee this afternoon.

Shaw becomes the second Lions player to be cited and banned during the 10-match tour after Scotland lock Nathan Hines received a one-week ban for dangerous play during the 13-13 draw with the Emerging Springboks two-weeks ago.

Elsewhere the IRB are set to investigate the white armbands worn by the Springboks displaying the message "Justice 4 Bakkies" in support of the banned forward Bakkies Botha. A statement from the IRB said: "The IRB is looking to establish all the relevant facts before making any further comment."
