Silva struggling to adapt to Premier League

Manchester City’s David Silva has admitted that he is struggling to adapt to life in the Premier League.

The 24-year-old joined City from Valencia for £24m this summer after helping Spain to win the World Cup in South Africa.

However, the diminutive midfielder has played just 16 minutes in the Premier League this season and failed to impress in his two starts against Timisoara in the Europa League.

The player’s lack of action has already led to speculation that he is unhappy at Eastlands and hopes to return to La Liga in January.

However, Silva has denied the rumours in an interview with www.mcfc.co.uk: ‘I am getting there, just more slowly than I would have liked.’

‘It's not just about playing games, it's about getting more training sessions under your belt - something I have been able to do more of lately.’

Silva hopes that City’s busy autumn schedule will give him the chance to play more games and improve his fitness.

‘Physically, I am feeling better day by day,’ he said. ‘I need to get a few more minutes on the pitch to get to optimum fitness levels and I am sure that will happen with so many games coming up.’
