Alan Shearer is set to sit down this week with Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley to discuss whether or not he will remain at the club next season.
Yesterday's 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa condemned the Magpies to the Championship for the first time since 1993 and the club will now have to be restructured with relegation set to cost them somewhere in the region of £30m-£60m.
The most pressing issue for Newcastle will be to see if interim boss Shearer decides to stay on following just eight games in charge. The former player refused to be drawn on his future following yesterday's defeat but spoke to reporters about the uncertainty now surrounding the club.
"There are a million questions that need to be answered," Shearer said. "A hell of a lot needs to change. Players need to go, players need to come in and those guys need to decide where the football club is going to go."
