Scotland 15 England 15

Scotland and England drew 15-15 in a dour Calcutta Cup match at Murrayfield yesterday afternoon. Both teams struggled to break the opposition defence in a game devoid of tries and line breaks.

Dan Parks, making his 50th appearance in a Scotland shirt, scored all of his team’s points with the boot while Jonny Wilkinson was on target with three penalties and substitute Toby Flood added another two.

The result ended England’s slim hopes of winning the Six Nations title and summed up how disappointing the season has been so far for Martin Johnson’s team.

Once again the midfield combination of Wilkinson, Riki Flutey and Matthew Tait failed to fire with England struggling to create space and break down Scotland’s defensive line.

Scotland went closest to scoring a five pointer following a clean line break from scrum-half Chris Cusiter who was eventually tackled by Dan Cole. Kelly Brown looked to force his way over the try line but collided with England winger Ugo Monye who was stretchered off the field.

Toby Flood had a couple of late chances to win the game for the visitors but his 50-metre penalty fell short and then saw his drop-goal in the dying seconds blocked down.
