Scolari wants Torres and Kaka at Chelsea
New Chelsea boss Luiz Felipe Scolari has been told that he will be given full backing by the club in the transfer market. According to reports in The Guardian and The Daily Mail, Chelsea are set to bid for both Kaka and Fernando Torres while Portugal's Deco and Quaresma are also said to be on Big Phil's shortlist.
Chelsea will be looking to challenge Manchester United's dominance of the Premier League over the past two years. Scolari will also be expected to lead Chelsea to success in the Champions League and he looks likely to restructure the team with a number of new signings.
Abramovich has long been an admirer of Kaka although AC Milan will be reluctant to let go of one of their prize assets. Chelsea will be hoping that the Fifa World Player of the Year will be tempted by the prospect of Champions League football after AC Milan failed to qualify for next year's competition.
The arrival of Fernando Torres at Stamford Bridge seems even more unlikely. The Spanish striker scored 33 goals in his first season at Liverpool and his sale to Chelsea would instigate a revolt amongst the Liverpool faithful. A more likely option could be Valencia's David Villa who scored a hat-trick in Spain's 4-1 win over Russia at Euro 2008.
