Scolari offered £3.2m with Sven facing the sack at City

Manchester City's owner Thaksin Shinawatra has reportedly offered Luiz Felipe Scolari £3.2million a year to be the club's manager. Current boss Sven Goran Eriksson seems resigned to being sacked despite doing the double over rivals Manchester United and leading the club to ninth place in the Premiership.

However, it is not clear if Shinawatra's millions will be enough to tempt Scolari. He is said to be unsure about uprooting his family and has not been too impressed with the treatment of Eriksson by City's owner.

Eriksson is a hugely popular figure with City fans who have been vocal in their support of him, even Noel Gallagher popped up to show his support for Sven on the BBC.

But the protests seem to be in vain as the latest chapter of Manchester City's long history of hara-kiri plays itself out.
