Rooney accused of stamping on Aalborg player
A weakened Manchester United team drew 2-2 with Aalborg at Old Trafford last night in one of those meaningless Champions League final group games. But the result was overshadowed by an alleged stamping incident involving Wayne Rooney.
The England striker made an ill timed lunge at Aalborg defender Kasper Risgard but the match officials missed the incident. Rooney will now have to wait to see if UEFA decide to take any further action which could result in a fine or suspension.
Carlos Tevez put United ahead after just three minutes before Aalborg silenced the home crowd through goals from Michael Jakobsen and Jeppe Curth before half time, but Rooney was on hand to spare his side's blushes with a second half equaliser.
