Ronaldo tells agent he wants Real Madrid move
It's being reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has decided to leave Manchester United and join Real Madrid. The Guardian claims that the Portuguese winger has told his agent Jorge Mendes that his future lies with the Spanish club.
Madrid are said to have offered Ronaldo a deal worth £150,000 per week and the player has previously stated that lining out for Real would be a "dream". Ronaldo's transfer to Spain would see Real topping the £46m they paid for Zidane back in 2001.
The news will have further strained relations between Manchester United and Real Madrid with the English club threatening to report the Spanish champions to Fifa. But it's the relationship between Ronaldo and Ferguson that may be irreparable.
The United boss was hoping that the Portugal international would make a statement committing his future to the club but so far he has been disappointed. Ferguson has been bullish in his attitude towards any possible deal with Real threatening to make this year's Golden Boot winner see out the last year of his contract in the stands. But if Ronaldo really doesn't want to play for United anymore the time may have come for United to cash in the chips and move on.
